As everyone expected the Government of the United States of America adopted a new bill that closed the topic of gambling online on the territory of the country. Despite all efforts of “gambling” lobby the voting had 317-93 as a result.
Online casino for US players became more unreachable than ever. A new bill prohibits making payments for web-sites which specialize in gambling. The Government has the right to press internet-providers to block traffic of these sites as well. It is a heavy blow to the world’s gambling industry. Half of its turnover (it’s about 12 billion dollars) was coming from online casinos accepting USA players. Online casino for US citizens is not an option any longer. According to the new law all they’ve got now are horse racing and lottery which remain legal.
The law was prepared by the Republicans before the elections in November as a part of their initiative to protect moral values.
The owners of Internet casino, poker sites and bookmaker offices who are glad to accept US players as a large part of their visitors have been watching the process of adopting the law concerning online casino for USA players with great interest. The majority of them are based in Europe. This business flourishes here and the biggest companies such as Partygaming Plc and 888 Holdings Plc are even represented at London Stock Exchange.
So June came and the law got its power. Web-sites accepting US players have a lot of problems with money transferring. Politicians claimed that gambling online was destroying the personality of the player suffering from gambling addiction. But the results of the research published by the American Gambling Association with the help of Harrah corporation, Roper ASW Company and NFO WorldGroup Company surprised even skeptics. The research was aimed at studying the connection between players and their income, age, education and way of life. The characteristics of an average player were rather surprising.
Experts asked the respondents rather provocative questions about their financial operations, private life, their favourite gambling game, taste in food etc. The results showed that the picture of a socially disoriented player with little connections and a small income was nothing but a myth we used to accept. USA players are wealthier and more responsible in their social realization than those who do not play.
So what is the problem with accepting us, players online, by the Government and part of the society? That’s really a question.
Luckily enough today there is a number of web-sites that can accept us. Players deserve the right to play the game.
